At Mellbygatans Restaurant in Lidköping, you can enjoy a culinary experience where classic Swedish comfort food meets dishes inspired by both European and Asian cuisine. Our kitchen is passionate about using local and sustainably produced ingredients, and our à la carte menu is tailored to showcase the best seasonal flavors.
No matter the time of year, you'll always find a version of our popular steamed buns and our magical steak tartare on the menu. Mellbygatans has been awarded 86 points in the Falstaff Restaurant & Bistro Guide Nordics 2026. This distinction places the restaurant among the very best in Western Sweden, based on reviews from Europe’s largest gastronomic community.
With a score breakdown of 43/50 for food, 17/20 for service, 18/20 for wine, and 8/10 for style, Falstaff highlights Mellbygatans as a restaurant offering a strong and well-balanced overall dining experience.
Mellbygatans is one of a limited number of restaurants in the Västra Götaland region to be featured in this year’s guide — approximately 83 restaurants across the entire region — and is currently also the only restaurant in Lidköping recognized in Falstaff 2026.
Falstaff’s rankings are based on a combination of guest reviews and editorial assessments, where restaurants are evaluated on food, service, wine selection, and atmosphere. Restaurants scoring above 80 points are also awarded Falstaff’s quality distinction in the form of so-called “forks,” where 1–4 forks indicate the gastronomic level, with four forks being the highest distinction.
With its 86 points, Mellbygatans is placed in the “very good” category and is awarded two forks in Falstaff’s system — a clear mark of quality in the international restaurant world.
